Good afternoon to you all.

At the general meeting held yesterday, we discussed our progress at the new post.  Those that have made their contribution to the building fund ( the six month pledge) were thanked and the importance of this was stressed.  Since opening the new  post, it has been found that no body was out and about on Sunday, and it was decided that we would now be open  1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday only.

We have had some success with our Thursday night Cheese Burger offer, and will continue to serve Burgers and Chips for $4.00.  Another menu item was suggested that would be
fairly easy to prepare, a taco salad. Once the recipe is firmed up we will make that item available.

We have a need for storage.  If you know of anyone with a shipping container that is willing to donate it let us know.  Even a some-what larger TuffShed would work also.

There is a "Stand-Down" scheduled to be held in Los Lunas on March 15 at 9:00am.  This is a way to get the homeless veterans, or veterans that need other help the information they need.  (Housing, furniture, clothing, medical help)  This is new to Valencia County, any help you can offer will be appreciated.  For more information call 505-259-6755.

Jeff Flaldd has made arrangements with Walmart Belen for space to set up an information table at their store on the morning of March 17th.  This will be our first chance to let people know that we are here for our veterans, and community as well.  We need some more warm bodies. If you can help, call 505-220-5581 I'll will let Jeff know.

Thus far we have had the opportunity to rent out our Hall on two occasions.  This really helps to boost our income, the more often we are able to do this, the easier it will be to grown and do the things we want to do, for the members as well as the community.

Artie Johnston is now working on plans to have a community open house.  This will be a task, and I'm sure he would appreciate any help you can offer. The more they know about us and our purpose, the greater their involvement will be, again making it less stressful to continue our mission.

As it stands now, we are having a Community Breakfast to be held on April 7th.  As you can guess we will need some help with this.  Jeff Fladd is heading this up, and will be the master chef in charge, call 505-220-5581 if you can help.

Thanks to all of you that have donated food and beverages to the Post so that we may continue to move forward.

Nominations are now open for officers for the Post.  An election will take place at our next meeting in April.  Stop by and self nominate for any position you wish to hold. (sign up sheet)  Nominations will also be taken from the floor at the meeting before the ballots are cast.  Anyone wishing to nominate someone else, they must be there, to accept the nomination, otherwise they will not be considered for the position.  We need a secretary, chaplain, 2nd vice commander, that we don't currently have at all.  Nominations are open for all officers, and board positions.

Wednesday March 13th the Auxiliary will meet at the Post at 1:00 pm.  One important topic is that of election of officers.
